KNGU Reputation Survey

The Royal Dutch Gymnastics Union (KNGU) wants to know what stakeholders think of them and what they expect from them. The KNGU will use the survey results to manage its own organizational reputation and work to enhance the reputation of gymnastics as a whole.

Quantitative research

The reputation survey consists of both quantitative and qualitative components. For the quantitative survey, 1,118 stakeholders completed the questionnaire in full, ranging from athletes and their parents to volunteers, trainers/coaches, and club administrators. The fieldwork was conducted by the research firm PanelWizard.

Qualitative research

The qualitative research was conducted by the reputation specialists at IVRM Sport. Based on the five reputation factors from the Reputation Mix (performance, leadership, social relevance, work environment, and agility), stakeholders were interviewed in depth. In addition to the stakeholder groups mentioned earlier, the group of external stakeholders includes, among others, jury members, educational institutions, partners, government agencies, and civil society organizations.

Remco Boer, director of the KNGU: “We believe it is important to build support for our policies. The KNGU serves its members. This survey has given us insight into the expectations of those directly involved and our stakeholders, so that we can incorporate them into the direction we want to take.”

“Through this reputation study, the KNGU is demonstrating its commitment to working with its stakeholders to enhance both its own reputation and that of the sport of gymnastics. We are happy to do our part,” said Remon Vonk, senior reputation and communications advisor at IVRM Sport.

Results

Some key findings are:

  • The KNGU's overall reputation is satisfactory;
  • The KNGU scores fairly low on agility, even though employees in particular place a high value on this;
  • Stakeholders are positive about the KNGU’s products, particularly the Miffy Physical Activity Certificate;
  • Communication with the rank and file is an area for improvement;
  • Stakeholders believe that the KNGU has taken decisive action regarding inappropriate behavior in the sport of gymnastics. However, all coaches have been unfairly lumped together;
  • The stakeholders would like the KNGU to work on strengthening its ties with its employees in order to ensure continuity in these relationships.

“This study has provided insight into the expectations of those directly involved and other stakeholders. We will take this into account as we chart our course.”

Remco Boer, Director of the KNGU
