Frank van den Wall Bake
Profile
At IVRM, Frank assists clients at both the strategic and operational levels when it comes to sports and sponsorship. Frank understands better than anyone else what sponsorship means for an organization’s strategic positioning and reputation. With forty years of experience in sports marketing, he sees opportunities everywhere to enhance reputation value through sponsorship of a sport, team, club, league, or event. According to Frank, sports transcend marketing. The right sponsorship contributes to social relevance, health, connection, empowerment, integration, and enjoyment.
Experience
Frank is the godfather of sports sponsorship in the Netherlands. Through his sports marketing agency Trefpunt and his own consulting work, he helped bring sponsorship to maturity. Frank knows how a company can forge a logical connection with a sport that enhances its reputation. For example, Frank was at the forefront of groundbreaking concepts such as the Holland Heineken House, the PTT Telecompetitie, AkzoNobel in the Volvo Ocean Race, ING and soccer, and Rabobank and cycling. He laid the foundation for the sponsorship policies of brands like ABN AMRO, KPN, Essent, Allianz, Amstel, and Aegon. Frank is an honorary lecturer in Sports Marketing at Fontys University of Applied Sciences. He is also the initiator of the radio program De BV Sport on AllSportsRadio. Together with Robert Denneman, he takes listeners on a journey into the world of financial flows in sports every second Wednesday of the month.
